Having said that, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona has always, and will always have, a special place in my heart and hopefully one day on my wrist! As such I cannot deny that my curiosity was piqued then when I heard about Project X Design’s take on this timeless classic.
There’s just something about these fake watches, be it their the rich history, timeless design or simply the fact that they are just stone cold cool, everybody desires at least one vintage Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in their collection. The rear has also been fitted with a sapphire exhibition case back so that the wearer can peer in at the inner workings of the superb Rolex movement.

The model we are showing you today nevertheless has a particular allure to it, in that it has what is commonly referred to as a ‘tropical’ or ‘chocolate brown’ dial. The reason being that if you are going to go the extra effort and pay the additional cost to acquire a limited edition piece you might as well get one that people realize has actually been customized! Otherwise you’re better investing in an original.
This influence is accentuated by the truth that this particular Cosmograph Daytona has been paired with a supple brown leather strap (non-original) complete with an authentic Rolex silver buckle. As you can see the timepiece genuinely stands out nicely on the wrist, wearing comfortably at 37.5mm.
I must admit it is quite a stunning piece, if lacking somewhat in creativity, and the red highlights provide an excellent contrast. That’s the good news, now for the bad.Unfortunately this tropical dial Replica Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Ref. 6263 is not accessible for immediate sale through Christie’s Private timepiece sales. Instead it will be offered up for Auction by Christie’s in June here in New York, with an estimate of US$40,000 – $60,000.

As you can see it is in excellent condition with no obvious marks or scratches. The original case and bracelet are also in excellent condition, particularly given the timepiece’s age, and if you turn the piece over you will discover the original, unblemished casevac with the word “Rolex” printed horizontally.
