The Rolex Sky-Dweller was first introduced in 2012, and the annual calendar is growing in popularity among collectors. It is a large watch with complications, so it appeals to a wider audience than the “normal” Rolex buyer. This year, we have new colour combinations and movement updates.
It’s hard to believe that the replica Rolex Sky-Dweller has been with us for over 10 years! Since then, it has received new developments! Since then, it has received its new dial colours and a version using the Oysterflex strap. It is also available in Rolesor (steel with yellow gold bezel) and in three shades of 18-carat gold. However, the 9001 automatic movement with an annual calendar and multiple time zones has remained the same. This year, there is a new dial and a slight update of the movement. As far as we know, the 42 mm diameter, the 50.5 mm lugs, the 14 mm thickness, and the 21 mm lug spacing remain the same.
Starting with the movement, the only perceptible change from the previous caliber 9001 is the switch to the brand’s Chronergy escapement, resulting in a new movement called the 9002. The Chronergy escapement combines greater energy efficiency with greater reliability while maintaining the existing anti-magnetic properties. It is a minor adjustment, but one that is consistent with most of Rolex’s other movements. Other features, such as the chronometer certification, the 28,800vph frequency and the 72-hour power reserve, remain unchanged.
What has many onlookers talking is the new Rolex Sky-Dweller Everose, model 336935. this 18k rose gold watch pairs an Oyster strap with a blue-green dial, a combination that is lethal. Press materials tell us that this dial colour is exclusive to this model, so you won’t see it on the Day-Date or other models. Pricing is not listed on the Rolex website, but we do know that the list price will be around €50,000.
Next, white gold returns to the Sky-Dweller lineup and for the first time, this metal is paired with the Oysterflex “bracelet”. Shown above in glossy black, there is also a white variant. Both have a folding Oyster clasp with a Glidelock extension. Thanks to the bracelet, the watch has a sportier look. As for the pricing, the watch comes with a hefty price tag of €41,950.
For the most affordable option, the Sky-Dweller is also available in a Rolesor version, which is Rolex’s way of saying a mix of stainless steel and 18k gold. You may recognize the dial above, as it has become as popular as the mint green on the Datejust. I’ve seen this shade in person, and if I were to go with my current Rolex, I’d probably go with this colour. It works well here too, even if the dial is more complicated. Considering the pricing of the complicated movement and the precious metal model, this buy replica watches becomes a relative bargain at €15,350.
I never thought much about the Sky-Dweller collection because of its size. As mentioned before, it is a larger watch, and I have a smaller wrist which makes it difficult to take it off. Also, while I appreciate the movement, I tend to like the sparse Rolex dials. Nothing has changed in the layout of these latest versions, but there’s something special about the evergreen version with its blue-green dial. It’s a striking touch. I also like anything Rolex does with a mint green dial. Are these watches inexpensive? Absolutely not, but I think they’re easy to find a home for.
